Leveraging universality of jet taggers through transfer learning

no code implementations11 Mar 2022 Frédéric A. Dreyer, Radosław Grabarczyk, Pier Francesco Monni

A significant challenge in the tagging of boosted objects via machine-learning technology is the prohibitive computational cost associated with training sophisticated models.

Next-to-next-to-leading order event generation for top-quark pair production

no code implementations28 Dec 2020 Javier Mazzitelli, Pier Francesco Monni, Paolo Nason, Emanuele Re, Marius Wiesemann, Giulia Zanderighi

The production of top-quark pairs in hadronic collisions is among the most important reactions in modern particle physics phenomenology and constitutes an instrumental avenue to study the properties of the heaviest quark observed in nature.

Disentangling observable dependence in SCETI and SCETII anomalous dimensions: angularities at two loops

no code implementations16 Dec 2020 Christian W. Bauer, Aneesh V. Manohar, Pier Francesco Monni

We show that the observable dependence of anomalous dimensions in SCETI problems can be disentangled by introducing a suitable UV regulator in real radiation integrals.

Higgs transverse momentum with a jet veto: a double-differential resummation

no code implementations10 Sep 2019 Pier Francesco Monni, Luca Rottoli, Paolo Torrielli

We consider the simultaneous measurement of the Higgs ($p_t^{\tiny{\mbox{H}}}$) and the leading jet ($p_t^{\tiny{\mbox{J}}}$) transverse momentum in hadronic Higgs-boson production, and perform the resummation of the large logarithmic corrections that originate in the limit $p_t^{\tiny{\mbox{H}}}\,, p_t^{\tiny{\mbox{J}}} \ll m_{\tiny{\mbox{H}}}$ up to next-to-next-to-leading-logarithmic order.

The Sudakov radiator for jet observables and the soft physical coupling

1 code implementation30 Jul 2018 Andrea Banfi, Basem Kamal El-Menoufi, Pier Francesco Monni

We present a procedure to calculate the Sudakov radiator for a generic recursive infrared and collinear (rIRC) safe observable in two-scale problems.

A general method for the resummation of event-shape distributions in e^+e^- annihilation

1 code implementation5 Dec 2014 Andrea Banfi, Heather McAslan, Pier Francesco Monni, Giulia Zanderighi

We present a novel method for resummation of event shapes to next-to-next-to-leading-logarithmic (NNLL) accuracy.
